MICA Faculty's Documentary Wins an Oscar

Chair of MICA’s video and film arts department Patrick Wright, Errol Webber Jr. '08, Matt Davies '09, students helped create "Music by Prudence"

"Music by Prudence," a documentary short subject film co-produced by Patrick Wright, chair of MICA’s video and film arts department, has won an Oscar, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced March 7. Errol Webber Jr. ’08 is the youngest cinematographer ever to shoot an Oscar-winning film. Several of Wright’s students interned on the project.

Baker Artist Award Winners Receive Up To $25,000 Each in Prize Money

Karen Yasinsky, animation faculty member, and sculptor Richard Cleaver '78 (ceramics) are two of the three Mary Sawyers Baker Prize winners, announced on March 3. This prize, which offers $25,000 to each winner, is part of the Baker Artist Awards, a program that recognizes Baltimore visual and performing artists of all mediums.
